February half term success and forthcoming Easter activities
Well a lot has happened since i last blogged.
The Stray FM give away the week before half term was a great success. I hope you managed to hear Alex Cann give us a shout out every day and have seen the photos on the Stray FM website of when Alex visited the shop.
Half term was full of creativity and fun. Everyone that came through the door produced some lovely toe bags, t-shirts, owl cuddly toys, brooches, embroidered doodles and colourful money boxes. It was nice to see a lot of new faces due to Stray FM as well as my regulars.
We have had four parties over the last few weeks. Activities have been a mixture of soap making, fabric painting, decopauge animals and owl cuddly toys. Each one was lots of fun and I'm glad to say everyone left happy with some lovely items they had made.
If you are looking for ideas for your child's next birthday party, please get in touch for details. Parties can be adapted to any theme, age or ability.
For the last three weeks i have been teaching young mums basic sewing skills after they contacted me through Mumbler. They were looking for someone to teach them skills they would be able to use to make and adapt their children's clothes at a time when their children are in bed. The class is on Wednesday's at 7.30pm till 9pm if anyone else would like to join in. Each week we have concentrated on a specific task. So far we have covered how to set up and use a sewing machine, how to make a drawstring bag and applique onto to t-shirts. This week we are learning how to insert a concealed zip.
A selection of new haberdashery products are arriving this week. Everyday essentials from machine threads, pins, tailors chalk, bobbins, sewing machine needles and more. Come and have a look later in the week. We have also introduced a fun selection of lip balms, tissues, mirrors and nail files with a sewing theme and design. So cute and what every girl needs.
Our selection of workshops is always increasing. During late March/early April we have 3 brand new felt making workshops, where you can transform your wet felt into a scarf, hat or flower brooch. Any workshop ideas are much appreciated. One to one lessons are also available at £15 per hour.
I have just finished making examples of crafts for children to do over the Easter holidays. Activities include a bunny egg pouch, bunny bunting, ceramic egg painting, decopauge egg, chick and bunny bean bags and design an Easter t-shirt or tote bag. Details are on the website now and prices start at £2.50. Hope to see you all over the Easter period.
We will also be running a Facebook competition over Easter for you to upload and share your crafts and the photo with the most likes will win a prize. Details will be available soon.
Last but not least, to make way for new stock we will be having a sale over Easter with up to 40% of cushions and other stock.
