Saturday Morning Children's Sewing Club - 3/4 Length PJ Bottoms - £12.50

In our first children's sewing club session of the year we will be making some comfy 3/4 length PJ bottoms. Learn how to make an elastic waistband, hem trouser legs and add applique embellishment to a matching vest top. A lovely sleepwear set for the cold winter months.

Suitable for children age 7+ with some sewing machine experience.

All materials, a drink and snack are included.

Mother and Daughter Class - PJ Bottoms - £30

Following on from the success of our other Mother and Daughter sessions over the Summer holidays we are introducing a new project for you both to enjoy and make.

Each of you will make a pair of PJ bottoms either in a short or trouser length.

You will learn how to;

-  cut out a pattern

- create a casing

- insert an elastic waistband

- finish seams

- hem trouser legs

Tea, coffee and cake are included.

Each person will need to bring their own fabric. Suggested fabric types and amount needed will be given on booking.

Christmas Bunting - £25

Decorate your home this festive season with some beautiful bunting. Once you have chosen your fabrics, you will cut out a number of triangles ready to sew before attaching them to some bias binding. By the end of the session you should have made 2-2.5m of bunting. 

A selection of Christmas fabric along with bias binding, tea, coffee and cake is provided. 

Please feel free to bring your own fabric if you prefer.

Mini Patchwork Quilt - £60 (3 sessions)

Create your own mini quilt using patchwork techniques.

Week 1 – you will be shown how to;

-           Cut fabric using a rotary cutter, ruler and mat

-          Sew a straight seam

-          Press a seam

-          Match seams

-          Create your design using squares

Week 2 – Once you have finalised your design you will spend this session adding a boarder and quilting on top of your patchwork.

Introduction to Patchwork Blocks - £35

In this 3 hour session you will learn how to make two patchwork blocks (a block is a square composed of patchwork pieces to form a design).

A quilt is generally made up of a collection of block patterns, 6,9,12 or more. A sampler quilt is considered a good starter quilt for beginners, as they can start with the easiest block usually a 9 square patch and progress to the more difficult.

Machine Applique and Freehand Machine Embroidery - £35

We have combined our two most popular workshops into one 3 hour class. This allows you to sample both techniques as well as learn twice as much.

The first half of the workshop will be focusing on machine appliqué.

You will learn how to:

-          Transfer your image onto fabric

-          Choose the right stitch and size for the project

-          Experiment with letters and motifs

You will then move onto Freehand Machine Embroidery after a tea break!!

Introduction to the Sewing Machine - £25

A two hour session introducing you to the uses and features of a sewing machine.

You will learn basic skills such as:

-      Threading a machine

-      Inserting a bobbin

-      Winding a bobbin

-      Knowing what tension and stitches to use for different fabrics

You will be shown how to create a neat seam, hem and perfect corners.

You will be shown how to change the machine foot and learn when to use different feet for a variety of techniques.  

We will also cover how to sew a buttonhole and experiment with machine applique.

Children's Sewing Club - Christmas Holidays - £12.50

For those schools that finish early for the Christmas period we have some festive sewing projects to keep children busy during the holidays.

Using a selection of colourful Christmas fabrics, felt and ribbon projects to choose from include; bunting, stocking, wreath, and decorations.

Each session is 1 hour 30 minutes, £12.50 per session or book 3 sessions for £30,  suitable for children age 7+.

Pyjama Shorts or Trousers - £35

This is a great workshop for students who would like to try dressmaking without being too daunting. We will show you how to read a commercial pattern, pattern cut, transfer pattern markings and sew your garment together.

At the end of the workshop you will leave with a pair of comfy pj bottoms.

You will need to bring 2.5m of fabric (preferably a light to medium weight cotton).

For all our dressmaking courses it is advised to wash and iron fabric before the workshop.

Improver's Crochet - 2 week class £40

Fiona Warrington from Crafty Flo and Sew is returning to host our Improver's Crochet class.

This 2 week course is a follow on from our beginner’s course; therefore you must be able to crochet already.

Fiona will demonstrate and help you achieve a number of advanced stitches to take your crochet project to the next level.

Stitches and techniques include; Popcorn stitch, hexagons and triangles. 

This is a 2 week class – Wednesday 1st and Wednesday 8th October – 7-9pm.

All materials and refreshments are included.
