Saturday Morning Kid's Club - Summer Bunting - £12.50

Summer Bunting

In today’s session each child will make a double sided 2m strip of bunting using a selection of bold and colourful spot, stripe and plain fabrics. This bunting will be ideal to put in the garden for a summer bbq or party.

Suitable for children age 7+ with some sewing machine experience.

All materials, a drink and snack are included.

Machine Appliqué and Freehand Machine Embroidery - £35

For this term we are combining our two most popular workshops into one 3 hour class. This allows you to sample both techniques as well as learn twice as much.

The first half of the workshop will be focusing on machine appliqué.

You will learn how to:

-          Transfer your image onto fabric

-          Choose the right stitch and size for the project

-          Experiment with letters and motifs

You will then move onto Freehand Machine Embroidery after a tea break!!

Christmas Wreath - £35

One of our festive Christmas workshops to get you in the Christmas spirit.

In this workshop you will make your own patchwork Christmas wreath. We will show you how to read a commercial pattern, pattern cut and construct your product.

You will need to bring 5 fat quarters of Christmas fabric or equivalent. Toy stuffing is provided.

Suitable for beginners.

Tea, coffee and cake included.

Saturday Morning Kid's Club - Halloween Tutu - £12.50

Halloween Tutu

For Halloween this year we will be making a witches tutu. Using lots of netting, each child will create their own skirt to add to their Halloween costume.

Happy trick or treating!

Suitable for children age 7+ with some sewing machine experience.

All materials, a drink and snack are included.

As usual each activity runs for two consecutive weeks making it a fortnightly club if your child would like to come regularly.

Beginner's Dressmaking - £50

This workshop is aimed at beginner's or students returning to sewing.

Each student will follow an easy commercial dressmaking pattern for a skirt, top or dress to work through during these 3 sessions.

We will be on hand to advise and guide you through any techniques and stages you may need help with, eg reading a pattern, inserting a zip, hem, neckline.

Roman Blind - £60

Learn how to make  a Roman Blind that can instantly change the look and feel of any room in your home.

In this workshop you will make a sample 60cm Roman Blind using all the techniques required to get a professional finish. You will be provided with a basic blind kit and instructions on how to construct your blind before going home with your sample blind to use as a reference.

A 60cm blind kit, tea, coffee and cake. Please bring your lunch or you can buy a sandwich or panini from our cafe menu.

You will need to bring:

1m of furnishing fabric

Beginner's Dressmaking - £60 (3 sessions)

This workshop is aimed at beginners and students who would like to return to sewing.

Each student can bring along an easy dressmaking pattern for a skirt, or dress to work through during these 3 sessions.

We will be on hand to advise and guide you through any techniques and stages you may need help with, eg inserting a zip, sleeves, hem or neckline.

Introduction to the Sewing Machine - £25

A two hour session introducing you to the uses and features of a sewing machine.

You will learn basic skills such as:

-      Threading a machine

-      Inserting a bobbin

-      Winding a bobbin

-      Knowing what tension and stitches to use for different fabrics

You will be shown how to create a neat seam, hem and perfect corners.

You will be shown how to change the machine foot and learn when to use different feet for a variety of techniques.

PJ Trousers or Shorts - £25

This workshop is great for beginners or students wanting to refresh their skills. You will make a lovely pair of pyjama shorts or trousers (loungewear), a great comfy item perfect for all year round.

You will learn how to:

-          Cut out a pattern

-          Choose the right size

-          Make a casing

-          Insert elastic

-          Stitch a hem

There are two lengths to choose from, pyjama shorts or full length trousers in sizes XS, S, M, L.

Zips - Cushion and Wash Bag - £35

Does the thought of inserting a zip fill you with dread then fear not as this workshop will show you two ways on how to do it as well as make two beautiful products for the home.

You will first make a 40x40cm cushion, you will learn how to:

-          Cut out the fabric

-          Prepare seams for zip

-          Insert a zip

-          Finish to a professional standard

We will then move onto making a lovely wash bag showing you another technique of inserting a zip as well as learning how to sew a box corner and insert a lining.
