Messenger Bag - £35

This bag is a perfect size for your everyday needs.

With long straps it fits easily over the head to sit comfortably on your shoulder.

You will learn:

-          How to cut out fabric using a pattern

-          Sew a dart

-          Insert a lining

-          Make bag handles

-          Topstitch

A plain lining fabric and interfacing are provided.

Please bring along 3/4m of cotton fabric for the outside of your bag.

This workshop is suitable for people with some sewing machine experience.

Beginner's Zip and Buttonhole Cushions - £35

This is an ideal workshop for students who are new to sewing or beginners wanting to increase their skills. In this class you will make two cushions, one with a zip fastening and one with buttonholes.

You will learn how to:

-          Cut out a pattern using a template

-          Insert a zip

-          Set the sewing machine up to use a zip and 1-step buttonhole foot

-          Neaten seams

-          Finish to a professional standard

Each cushion will measure 40cmx40cm.

Christmas Stocking - £35

Make that special someone a beautiful Christmas stocking they can treasure year after year.

Using a selection of Christmas fabrics you can choose to;

-         Patchwork a stocking panel – sewing different sized pieces of fabric together before cutting your stocking shape.

Or

-         Decorate your stocking panel with an appliqué design or child’s name.

Once the outer layer has been decorated you will then sew a lining before sandwiching the layers between a thin wadding.

This workshop is suitable for people with some sewing machine experience.

Christmas Wreath - £35

Decorate your house with this beautiful patchwork Christmas wreath.

You will learn the basic techniques of patchwork using 4 co-ordinating Christmas fabrics:

-          How to use a rotary cutter

-          Sew in a straight line

-          Press seams

-          Match seams

Once the 8 sections are sewn together you will do the same for the back panel before filling with toy stuffing and finishing with a bow and plastic ring for hanging.

This workshop is suitable for people with some sewing machine experience.

Patchwork Quilt - (3 sessions) - £60

Create your own mini quilt using patchwork techniques.

Week 1 – you will be shown how to;

-           Cut fabric using a rotary cutter, ruler and mat

-          Sew a straight seam

-          Press a seam

-          Match seams

-          Create your design using squares

Week 2 – Once you have finalised your design you will spend this session adding a boarder and quilting on top of your patchwork.

For this term we are combining our two most popular workshops into one 3 hour class. This allows you to sample both techniques as well as learn twice as much.

The first half of the workshop will be focusing on machine appliqué.

You will learn how to:

-          Transfer your image onto fabric

-          Choose the right stitch and size for the project

-          Experiment with letters and motifs

You will then move onto Freehand Machine Embroidery after a tea break!!

An Introduction to the Sewing Machine - £25

A two hour session introducing you to the uses and features of a sewing machine.

You will learn basic skills such as:

-      Threading a machine

-      Inserting a bobbin

-      Winding a bobbin

-      Knowing what tension and stitches to use for different fabrics

You will be shown how to create a neat seam, hem and perfect corners.

You will be shown how to change the machine foot and learn when to use different feet for a variety of techniques.
