Bunting for any occasion - £25

A fun and relaxed workshop to create a lovely row of traditional bunting.

You will learn how to:

-          Cut out a pattern

-          Sew a neat seam

-          Cut curves, corners, points to create a professional finish

-          Apply a bias binding or tape

This is a great workshop for beginners or people wanting to get back into sewing, plus bunting makes a great decoration for any special event – Weddings, christenings, birthdays, summer BBQs, Christmas etc.

Piped Cushion with Zip - £35

Learn two fantastic techniques that will improve your sewing skills and take a simple cushion to the next step. 

Firstly you will cut out your cushion panels for a 40cm x 40cm (16" x 16") cushion cover before moving onto making the matching piping, using piping cord and your cushion fabric. We will show you have to create the piping strip, insert the piping cord and advise on what machine foot to use.

You will then move onto inserting the zip, using the best technique to do this with piping.

Christmas Bunting - £25

Decorate your home this festive season with some beautiful bunting. Once you have chosen your fabrics, you will cut out a number of triangles ready to sew before attaching them to some bias binding. By the end of the session you should have made 2-2.5m of bunting. 

A selection of Christmas fabric along with bias binding, tea, coffee and cake is provided. 

Please feel free to bring your own fabric if you prefer.

Pyjama Shorts or Trousers - £25

This workshop is great for beginners or students wanting to refresh their skills. You will make a lovely pair of pyjama shorts or trousers, a great comfy item perfect for the winter months. Plus a great Christmas present! 

You will learn how to:

-          Cut out a pattern

-          Choose the right size

-          Make a casing

-          Insert elastic

-          Stitch a hem

There are two lengths to choose from, pyjama shorts or full length trousers in sizes XS, S, M, L.

Introduction to the Sewing Machine - £25

A two hour session introducing you to the uses and features of a sewing machine.

You will learn basic skills such as:

-      Threading a machine

-      Inserting a bobbin

-      Winding a bobbin

-      Knowing what tension and stitches to use for different fabrics

You will be shown how to create a neat seam, hem and perfect corners.

You will be shown how to change the machine foot and learn when to use different feet for a variety of techniques.  

We will also cover how to sew a buttonhole and experiment with machine applique.

Saturday Morning Children's Sewing Club - Easter Baskets - £12.50

As Easter is round the corner, in today's session we will be making Easter bunny baskets filled with lots of delicious chocolates. Each basket will be decorated to look like a bunny, adding a face and pom pom tail. We should have time to make two, one for you and one for a friend or sibling.

Suitable for children age 7+ with some sewing machine experience.

All materials, a drink and snack are included.

Saturday Morning Children's Sewing Club - Door Stop - £12.50

Today we will be making a cube door stop. Each child will learn how to create a 3D shape, add an applique design using fabric scraps and trims before stuffing their doorstop with toy stuffing and dried peas/rice to weigh it down.

Suitable for children age 7+ with some sewing machine experience.

All materials, a drink and snack are included.

Mini Patchwork Quilt - £60 (3 sessions)

Create your own mini quilt using patchwork techniques.

Week 1 – you will be shown how to;

-           Cut fabric using a rotary cutter, ruler and mat

-          Sew a straight seam

-          Press a seam

-          Match seams

-          Create your design using squares

Week 2 – Once you have finalised your design you will spend this session adding a boarder and quilting on top of your patchwork.

Machine Applique and Freehand Machine Embroidery - £35

We have combined our two most popular workshops into one 3 hour class. This allows you to sample both techniques as well as learn twice as much.

The first half of the workshop will be focusing on machine appliqué.

You will learn how to:

-          Transfer your image onto fabric

-          Choose the right stitch and size for the project

-          Experiment with letters and motifs

You will then move onto Freehand Machine Embroidery after a tea break!!
