Introduction to Patchwork Blocks - £35

In this 3 hour session you will learn how to make two patchwork blocks (a block is a square composed of patchwork pieces to form a design).

A quilt is generally made up of a collection of block patterns, 6,9,12 or more. A sampler quilt is considered a good starter quilt for beginners, as they can start with the easiest block usually a 9 square patch and progress to the more difficult.

Machine Applique and Freehand Machine Embroidery - £35

We have combined our two most popular workshops into one 3 hour class. This allows you to sample both techniques as well as learn twice as much.

The first half of the workshop will be focusing on machine appliqué.

You will learn how to:

-          Transfer your image onto fabric

-          Choose the right stitch and size for the project

-          Experiment with letters and motifs

You will then move onto Freehand Machine Embroidery after a tea break!!

Introduction to the Sewing Machine - £25

A two hour session introducing you to the uses and features of a sewing machine.

You will learn basic skills such as:

-      Threading a machine

-      Inserting a bobbin

-      Winding a bobbin

-      Knowing what tension and stitches to use for different fabrics

You will be shown how to create a neat seam, hem and perfect corners.

You will be shown how to change the machine foot and learn when to use different feet for a variety of techniques.  

We will also cover how to sew a buttonhole and experiment with machine applique.

Children's Sewing Club - Christmas Holidays - £12.50

For those schools that finish early for the Christmas period we have some festive sewing projects to keep children busy during the holidays.

Using a selection of colourful Christmas fabrics, felt and ribbon projects to choose from include; bunting, stocking, wreath, and decorations.

Each session is 1 hour 30 minutes, £12.50 per session or book 3 sessions for £30,  suitable for children age 7+.

Pyjama Shorts or Trousers - £35

This is a great workshop for students who would like to try dressmaking without being too daunting. We will show you how to read a commercial pattern, pattern cut, transfer pattern markings and sew your garment together.

At the end of the workshop you will leave with a pair of comfy pj bottoms.

You will need to bring 2.5m of fabric (preferably a light to medium weight cotton).

For all our dressmaking courses it is advised to wash and iron fabric before the workshop.

Tea, coffee and cake included.

Beginner's Dressmaking - £60 (3 sessions)

This workshop is aimed at beginners and students who would like to return to sewing.

Each student can bring along an easy dressmaking pattern for a skirt, or dress to work through during these 3 sessions.

We will be on hand to advise and guide you through any techniques and stages you may need help with, eg inserting a zip, sleeves, hem or neckline.

Christmas Wreath - £30

Decorate your house with this beautiful patchwork Christmas wreath.

You will learn the basic techniques of patchwork using 4 co-ordinating Christmas fabrics:

-          How to use a rotary cutter

-          Sew in a straight line

-          Press seams

-          Match seams

Once the 8 sections are sewn together you will do the same for the back panel before filling with toy stuffing and finishing with a bow.

This workshop is suitable for people with some sewing machine experience.

Please provide 4 christmas fat quarters.
